What is the Difference?   MD / MBBS

All Medical colleges follow eligibility criteria described by their affiliated university for MBBS admission in India. India(as on Oct,2014) has currently 398 medical colleges that trains 51,955 medical students as per registrations under Medical Council of India. Out of 398, 183 are government colleges and 215 are private colleges. 15% of all college seats are filled by central government and remaining seats are filled by state governments for government colleges. Fees for these government seats vary from 12,000 to 2,80,000 depending on the college, admission is sought. Based on the state where private colleges are located, 65% seats are filled by government and 35% seats are filled by private college management itself.

Tamilnadu tops the list with 45 medical colleges having a total of 5465 seats(Tamilnadu has more than 10% of total seats available in India).

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS): The course duration is 5½ years (4½ years of classroom study followed by a year of rotating internship). The 4½ years of class room study is broken into 3 phases of 18 months each. Each phase of 18 months is known as Professional and is further divided into 3 semesters of 6 months each. There is a semester exam at the end of each semester and a Professional exam at the end of each professional. The third professional is devoted to monthly clinical work in the wards and departments of the hospital. In all there are 3 professional examinations, followed by practical and clinical examinations. Pass percentage required is 50%.

Exam Pattern:-
The AIPMT questions in the exam consist of only one paper which comprises 180 objective type of questions.60 question for each subject i.e Physics,Chemistry and Biology..60 question for each subject i.e Physics,Chemistry and Biology.
The answers are to be marked in a Separate OMR Sheets.
The duration of entrance Exam is 3 hours.
The candidates can choose paper in Hindi or English According to their convenience.
For each correct answer you will get 4 marks and for each incorrect answer you will be deducted 1/4 marks.
